Brick Lane and English class

So, hi.

I'm currently in English class and we're studying the book, Brick Lane by Monica Ali. Basically, my teacher's way of analysing longer texts of prose is by talking about the progress in terms of plotlines, through character development. So a couple of my class mates and I got the cjaracters, Dr. Azad, Mrs. Islam, Amma and Razia. These characters were classified under others but I think they play a pretty integeral part in the growth of the main character, Nazneen. I'll talk about that later in a sec.

What I want to say however is that I actually only read 121 pages of the book, which is just a TINY problem considering that my classmates and I have to give a presentation on the "other" characters and their development through the novel. I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Reading. More than anything in th world. Almost more than writing (because you don't have to think as much and you can just kind of go with it), but this book was IMPOSSIBLE to read. I found out later that it actually got better somewhere around page 200, but one of my teachers once told me that if a book didn't get interesting after 100 pages, scrap it. Hahaha. The wise words of an econ teacher. LOL.

Anyway, maybe it's just that my perception of interesting just didn't click with this novel, but no one in my class could read it and say that it was particularly good. I mean, sure, the main character Nazneen dies go through an interesting change and it is kind if interesting to see her grow to be a strong, independant woman and how Nazneen's relationships with other charcters grow and flourish or orherwise, but really. It took WAY too long to get to that interesting point. I mean, the 100 so pages that I read was just about her cleaning the house and cooking. It's all rather dull. I will say though, the ending was quite good.

So yeah...6 minutes till school ends for the day. Then I have tap class. Yay?? Hmm.

Oh and btw, I'm feeling really sick my whole body was burning up last night. Pretty horrible fever.. :( still went to school though. AND played baseball this morning too... Kind of regretting coming to school, but my mum would kick my ass if I didn't. Asian parents... ;) so yeah. 2 minutesntill the endnif school now. English class was awesomen. Haha. Need to go home. My sickness has rendered me sleepy and therefore, useless. ;)

First Ever Post

Helllooooo!

OK. So this is my first ever post but I HAVE TONNES of HOMEWORK so I can't type that much. Only a line or two ;) Anyway, if you're following my blog or just reading it, or just living life and making something of it, I ADMIRE YOU and I LOVE YOU :)))

So yeah. Eurgh. I have a geography field report to continue writing. Why can't writing field reports be as interesting as writing a piece on, say, what death was like when he/she/it was born, or what mermaids would eat?? Seriously, teachers. FIND A WAY TO MAKE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS INTERESTING. HAHA.

So yeah, that's all the time I've got today. I'll blog again sometime later when I have more time and we can get down to the nitty-gritty of what my life is like, my hobbies, and MY BOOK! This IS a writer's blog, is it not?

Peace & Love,
